Week : 23
3rd May 2026 / 9:15AM
Shlokas-
We all chanted OM 3 times followed by shloka
"Om Saha Navavatu" (page 8 in My Prayers book)
"Sarawathi namasthubhyam" (page 12 in My Prayers book)
"Guru Brahma" (page 61 in My Prayers book)
Continuing with the next line in the pledge
We believe that the service of our country is the service of the lord of lords.
All people who serve their country, make life easy and comfortable.
We can serve our country by being a good person.
Our Gudev quotes.. "Service is love made visible"
There is no expectation in return, like our parents do so many things for us and expect nothing but love from us.
Story- There was a little girl who had to carry her baby brother since her mom was sick. She herself is small and needed to carry a baby, she didn't find it hard as she had so much love towards her family.
Story of Kimu- Kimu, a little boy, was very poor. But he and his family were very generous and noble. He once passed through a sweet shop and was looking at the sweets displayed on the glass box. He stood there for some time and enjoyed looking at the sweets. There was a pat on his shoulder by a stranger who asked kimu if he likes sweets.. Kimu hesitantly said yes, as he was a stranger. In a few minutes, the stranger handed him a box of sweets and smiled. Kimu asked him if he was God as he knew God gives all what they wanted. Kimu was truly thankful.
Who are all serving the country? Police, Doctors, astronauts, soldiers, firefighters, nurses, teachers.
How can I serve the country?
1. No throwing garbage everywhere
2. Planting trees
3. No wasting paper, water, electricity
4. Put a smiling face always
5. Be a good student and a good child
Devotion to the people is devotion to the supreme self
Devotion is the love and commitment to someone greater than us
God is everywhere and in all beings, so serving people is serving God. This is having devotion to the Lord.
Devotion is love for someone bigger than ourselves. Parents, teachers, Gods are greater and so we are devoted to them.
STORY- seeing God in everyone/everywhere
Once there was a devotee who took rotis to the temple to offer for krishna. he took rotis in one bag and some butter to spread in a box. As he was walking, a dog snatched the bag of rotis and started to run, The devotee followed the dog and screamed at the dog to stay as he wanted to apply butter on the rotis. The dog showed his original form Lord Krishna Himself. He came to test the devotee if he was getting mad at the dog since the dog snatched the food which was meant to offer to the God. But the devotee saw God in every being including the dog.
We know our responsibilities - give us the ability and courage to fulfil them.
Responsibility is doing what is the right thing and doing perfectly.
Obeying parents, doing homework, taking care of our things are examples of our responsibilities.
Our prayers bring courage to fulfil our responsibilities.
What is courage?
Courage is showing bravery even in danger. Courage means being brave and doing something that is dangerous and taking the risk of getting hurt.
When can we have courage?
When our hearts are pure and righteous then there is no fear- Prahalad story. Although his father tried to scare him so many times, there was no fear in his heart because his heart was pure and full of love for Lord Vishnu.
Knowing that you are not alone and need not be afraid because you have support. You are not alone because God is always with you. You are not alone because when you do the right thing other people will support you.
Responsibility means-
1. Taking care of our toys
2. Doing what mommy tells us, with no constant reminders.
3. Keep our room clean
4. Talking respectfully to elders
5. Eating vegetables and fruits and keeping our body clean both inside and out.
6. Treating our pet nicely
7. Keeping the library book safely
8. Saying Please, Thank you and sorry appropriately
9. Not throwing Garbage all over
Story- To fulfil our responsibilities, we must have courage
There was a little kite and a big kite who were taken to fly. The little kite was so scared to go up into the sky and was worried. The big kite said the little one should gather courage to rise up when the wind blows and keep going up as that is the responsibility of a kite. Within seconds the little kite was up in the sky and was courageous to fly high and thanked the big kite who gave big support.
Our responsibility includes being thankful and showing gratitude to anyone who made us understand and gave courage to fulfil our duty.
We did a great job with Likhita japa and earned sticker rewards.
