May 1, 2026 - Kindergarten (Friday)

Hari Om Parents,

We started our class with OM and opening prayer. We reviewed Ganesha, Sarasvati, Karagre, Brahmarpanam prayers.

Chapter 39 is our last chapter and we are finishing the CHINMAYA PLEDGE.

WE KNOW OUR RESPONSIBILITIES

GIVE US THE ABILITY AND COURAGE TO FULFILL THEM

We asked kids what is responsibility? Doing what is right and doing it well.

Kids gave us examples such as cleaning toys, keeping room clean, listening to parents and teachers, being nice to friends.

STORY- PRIYA’S RESPONSIBILITIES

We told them a story about Priya who got tired of all of her responsibilities such as getting up, brushing teeth, getting dressed, eating meals, doing homework. One day, she prayed to God to make all of her responsibilities disappear. God granted her wishes. Next day, a robot (to modernize the story) did everything for her, including dressing, feeding, doing her homework. Priya was happy initially, but after a month, she realized that she had no choice in what she wanted to do. She realized that it was better to take responsibility for all of her actions and be happy. Priya prayed to God again and was granted her wish to go back to how it was.

Moral- To fulfill our responsibilities, we must have courage.

Next we asked kids, what is courage? Being brave. Kids gave us all examples of when they were brave at the doctor’s office when they got their injections.

STORY- A LITTLE KITE

We told kids a story about a little kite who was scared to fly high up in the sky. She looked at the big kite and said that I was also afraid but you still have to try and God will help you. The little kite said Hari Om and started flying. She started going higher and realized it was not that scary. She flew next to the big kite and realized how happy she felt. The little kite was brave and God helped her.

GAME

We paired kids and told them that they were responsible for helping each other get the right answer. One of the pair gave guesses of the God that they saw in our book, such as which God has a feather or a trunk. The other team member had to guess who it was. They did really well.

ANNUAL PLAY Sat JUNE 13

We started practicing for the play. We had each child start to practice their lines. We will continue to work on this.

Please make sure each child comes to class. We know end of the school year gets very busy. We really appreciate your help in this.

Next class is May 8th.

Pranams,

Anuradha and Kavita
