Hari Om Parents
After reciting the daily shlokas we continued with the lessons from Mahabharata.
Based on the course of events both Pandavas and Kauravas were preparing themselves for the war reaching out to their allies and consolidating their armies.
At first Drupada's brahman messenger reaches Dirtharashtra's court, and appeals to them that both Dhirtharashtra and Pandu being sons of Vichitravarya, it only makes sense the their children get their fair share of common inheritance.
Inspite of this, Kauravas have taken possession of the whole kingdom. He tells them that Pandavas are ready to forget the injustices that prevailed on them and are against war because it brings no good to anyone.
After a lot of disorder and excitement in the court from arguments between Bhishma and Karna, Dhritharashtra requests the brahman to convey a message to Yudhishtra that Sanjaya will be visiting the Pandavas with a message of peace.
Sanjaya and Yudhishtra exchange pleasantries and Sanjaya accuses the Prince's of Yudhishtra as cruel and perverse, disobedient to elders. He advises Yudhishtra to not lose patience. He goes to the extent of saying that even if they dont get their kingdom back he cannot relinquish Dharma.
Yudhishtra turns to Krishna for advice for he believed that he knows the intricacies of rectitude and Dharma.
Krishna very tactfully expresses his concern for the welfare of pandavas and says that it will be a matter of happiness if Pandavas get back what they deserve and if they indeed do get, they will server Dhritharashtra loyally, If not they will prepare for war. He volunteers to go to Hastinapura to talk about this in person.
Before Sanjaya leaves Yudhishtra requests Sanjaya to remind Duryodhana about the difficulties that they went through including the insults and ill treatment of their wife Draupadi in the center of the court. Now they are asking for their share which is lawfully theirs. As a last resort he says they are five brothers, so they should atleast get 5 villages with which they will be content. If not they are prepared for war.
Sanjaya takes leave and goes to convey the same message to the kauravas. He begins with how Arjuna is impatient to destroy the kauravas along with the help of Krishna,
Duryodhana's father begs his son to make peace with the Pandavas and give them what belongs to them. Enraged Duryodhana tries to pacify his father saying that Yudhishtra is so scared of the war that he has now bargained himself down to 5 villages from asking for half of the kingdom and that there is nothing to fear. He goes on to say that they will get nothing not even a needle of the territory,
On the Pandavas end, Yudhishtra is able to sense the subtle message from Sanjaya indicating that they should settle for peace without getting anything in return. Krishna comments on the cruelty of Duryodhana and how blind in arrogance he is. Yet it is his bounden duty to go Hastinapura with a message of peace to avoid future indictment that they have not exhausted all options to avoid war.
After discussing Mahabharata we discussed some salient temples and their importance.
Thank You
