7th Grade Balavihar – Class Summary
Date: November 7, 2025
We began today's session with Nāma Rāmāyaṇa, setting a devotional and energetic tone for the class.
Ramayana:
Ayodhya Kāṇḍa – Led by Uma
Uma continued guiding the students through the Ayodhya Kāṇḍa. To refresh prior learning, we did a Balakāṇḍa recap using a fun "spin-the-wheel" question round. Students actively participated and showed strong recall of characters and events.
Qualities of Shri Rama
Uma invited each child to share one quality of Shri Rama and explain why the people of Ayodhya were eager to accept Him as the king. Students offered thoughtful answers, reflecting on virtues such as compassion, humility, courage, and fairness.
Ayodhya Kāṇḍa – Chapter 1
We then moved into the first chapter of the Ayodhya Kāṇḍa, discussing King Daśaratha's desire to crown Shri Rama as the Yuvarāja (Prince Regent). This led to meaningful conversation about leadership, responsibility, and the expectations of a ruler.
Keys to Success :
Story: The Horse That Became a Camel
We narrated and discussed the story of the horse that eventually turned into a camel. Through this, the class reflected on the importance of contentment, appreciating what we already have, and recognizing how dissatisfaction can lead us to make choices that diminish our own happiness.
Looking Ahead – Keys to Success Activities
As preparation for our upcoming lessons from the "Keys to Success" book, students were asked to write down things that make them happy before the next class. This will help them reflect inwardly and participate more meaningfully in the upcoming activities.
Geeta Chanting
The class spent a few minutes listening to chanting from the Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 15 – Verses 11 and 12, helping students connect to the spiritual essence of the lesson.
