Hari Om Parents,
We started our class by opening prayers and Saraswathi Mantra which children learnt.
Om Saha Naavau-Avatu |Saha Nau Bhunaktu |Saha Veeryam Karava Vahai |ejasvi Naavau-Adhiitam-Astu Maa Vidvissaavahai |Om Shaantih ||
Saraswathi Mantra:-
Sarasvati namastubhyaṃ varade kāmarūpiṇi |vidyārambhaṃ kariṣyāmi siddhir bhavatu me sadā||
Padma patra vishalakshi Padma kesara varnini|Nityam padama layam devi samam paatu saraswathi bhagavathi nisheya jaadya paha.
We recapped on what was learnt in last class, i.e.
Letter 'A' – is for Aspiration- What and how focused Arjuna was and to achieve what we want to do is Aspiration.
Letter 'B'- is for Brotherhood. Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam is a Sanskrit phrase that means "The world is one family".
Letter 'C- is for cleanliness is next to Godliness.
Letter 'D' – is for Daddy. Pitru Devo bhava.
Letter 'E' – is for Enthusiasm- Enthusiasm means to do with eagerness.
Most of the children brought back the papers handed over to kids, not sure if they interviewed DADs or not but we learnt something nice and interesting about Dads. One common thing was most Dads dislike chores at home which mom's always do day to dayJ.
Doing dishes, Laundry, Grocery. There was another common thing they all loved spending their weekends playing with the little ones J . I'm sure it's a recharge to Dad after a stressful week.
We all enjoyed reading the interview papers. Thank you Dads J
We moved to our next letter 'F'.
Name a few words that start with the letter F- , then we got fun, fish, fin, fight, food but what we were looking for was F- for Friendship.
We asked kids a few things they can make and not make friends.
How to Make Friends | How To Cut/Not Make Friends |
Smile when you see | Do not Smile |
Share with friends | Do not share |
Be Fair | Be Mean |
Be Nice | Be Rude |
Talk and respond nicely | Don't answer ignore |
Always Help | Do not help |
Hug and Say Hi | Push and be mean |
Everyone was asked to name at least two friends of theirs, some had friends from balavihar class.one smarty even said Aunty you are my friendJ. That was sweet of her.
Everyone received one stick note and was asked to draw their friend and write their names and their friends later all of them were asked to crumple the paper and put it in a bowl. They were surprised why they crumple but were excited as well. We went to check who our friends were, only girls or only boys or pets or cousins or grandparents and even Balavihar aunties like us. We concluded anyone can be our friend and even god can be our friend.
We watched a small story about the best friends ever story of Sudama and Krishna.
The kids were asked to pick up their crumpled papers and make it good and nice like before. They all tried their best but said it cannot be done.
What did we learn: - If you hurt or do bad to your friend it cannot be undone? Always be nice and kind to your friends and help them just like Krishna helped sudama without even asking for help.
Moral: - A friend in Need is a friend Indeed.
God can be treated as father/Friend, so what can god do?
Our first few classes we recapped.
Where god- god is everywhere.
What can god do- God can make the brown cow eat green grass which can give white milk.
How can we talk to God- we can talk via our prayers.
Everyone was asked how they do puja or prayer at home and what they did for Diwali.
We also recollected how they did saraswati puja. And then did a small puja with Ganesh and Krishna following the below things. Just to familiarize the children with puja.
1. Clean the place- cleaned the Chair where we were planning to keep the god.
2. Do some nice arrangements or decorations- we put a clean cloth and small stand/plate.
3. Place gods' idol on the clean place. – We kept Ganesha and Krishna on it.
4. Do the Rangoli. – We kept small Rangoli on the cloth.
5. Light the lamps. - We brought some battery operated tea lights and put them in front.
6. Do Abhishekam- Put little water and imagine as if you are giving God a bath.
7. Do puja - then wipe clean and then put Tilak and then chant some mantras and put Colored rice (Akshatas) kumkum and Turmeric.
8. Prasadam- Then lastly our favorite thing is Prasadam. Offer any food item to god which you made like fruits, dry fruits. We offered Raisins.
We bowed and did namaskaram and said Thank you God for everything.
All of them ate the Raisins. Attaching pictures from the little puja in class.
That's how we learnt – G – is for 'God'.
How do we feel after doing puja or prayer to god? - Nice
How do we feel when we share something with our friends? – Enjoying
What if we get our favorite food? Happy
What if we are given gifts- we are very happy J
That is our next letter. H- Is for Happiness.
At this point actually our little ones wanted to go home and were getting restless J and were getting restless. So we chanted Bhagavad gita chapter 15 1-6 verses.
