Hari Om Parents & Kids,
We started our class by chanting the starting prayers.
We did a recap of last week's class on where there is Dharma there is Victory and how in Mahabharata this was the central theme that was emphasized time and again. We talked about Karma and the Karma box lessons and the story that we walked through on the right time to work/ the most important person and most important work.
We then discussed on what does one mean by culture and our shared sense of identity.
In this week's lesson we delved deeper on the 10 sins that we should avoid that Bhishma Pitamah taught Dharmraj Yudhistra.
We covered the 3 sins one performs by the body : to kill someone, to steal, and to have illicit relations.
The four sins committed by speech are: to say bad words/curse, to say harsh words to someone, to lie, and to spread rumors. The three sins committed by thought are - greed/ jealousy, ill-feeling for anyone, doubt or lack of faith
We then summarized how each of these tie back to our theme of success or victory in one's life (be it 8th grade test result or doing well in sports). And how we could reach our potential in life if we do the right deeds in ones lives i.e performing ones dharma.
We discussed how performing the wrong actions would be like a leakage in the dam and how our conscience would preventing us from achieving all that we could
We then chanted BG Chapter 15: Verses 7 & 8.
The kids then assembled in the main hall for performing Saraswati puja.
Please note we have no class next week on 10/19 due to Diwali vacation
Happy Diwali to All of You..
