Hari Om Parents,
We had house spirit day today and our children had so much fun with the inauguration activities. Our class today was doing prepwork for the same and learning the house bhajan. Below is a recap of our discussions last week, exploring both practical life lessons in Keys to Success and the timeless wisdom of the Ramayana.
Keys to Success
The children reflected on what it means to be truly successful, using stories and examples:
Life's Master Key – how the right attitude can unlock many opportunities.
The Horse Story: Contentment – learning that being satisfied with what we have is itself a form of success.
Knowledge as the Master Key – the importance of learning and wisdom as guiding lights in life.
Happiness and Success – how true success is not just about achievements, but about finding joy and balance in what we do.
Ramayana Overview
We began exploring the epic story of the Ramayana and its lessons for life:
Listing Ramayana Characters: We began by going around the class to recall and list the many important characters in the epic, building a foundation for deeper discussions.
Overview of the Kandas: We introduced the different kandas (sections) of the Ramayana and gave a brief overview of each, setting the stage for more detailed discussions in upcoming classes.
Krishna vs. Rama – A Comparison: The class enjoyed comparing Krishna and Rama, especially focusing on why Rama chose to live and behave as a human being. This led us into the story of Ravana's boon and how Rama's life demonstrates exemplary behavior for the human race.
Where Does It All Start?: We reflected on the origins of the Ramayana story and the significance of how it unfolds from the beginning.
We encouraged the children to see the connections between values in daily life (like success, contentment, and happiness) and the examples set by Rama and other figures in the Ramayana.
Warm Regards,
Rahul and Keerthi
