The children started to learn the "Govinda Damodara Stotram", and did verses 4-6 today. A copy was given to the children and the script was shared in the Parents WA group for your reference. The children also got their "Gita Panchamrit" postcards that they should bring to every class.
Krishna Lila
After a quick recap, we continued with Lord Krishna's story.
Moonlit night, Lord Krishna plays His flute on the banks of river Yamuna. All the gopis are drawn towards divine music.
Lord Krishna is pleased with their devotion. He dances with the gopis, which is the Ras Lila, a dance of divine love and ecstasy.
The children played the part of gopis and gopas. We learned a few steps and performed the Ras Lila in class!
Introspection Activity:
Be an instrument in Krishna's divine hands. We discussed how the 5 senses, mind and intellect are the 7 holes in the divine Krishna's flute.
Bhagwan manipulates our thoughts and actions, plays His divine song. We prayed to Bhagwan to make us His instrument and lead us to good thoughts and action.
My 24 Teachers
The children solved the riddles for the next set of teachers from Avadhuta Gita. They got the answers very quickly.
We spoke about 5 teachers that represent the 5 sense organs. Moth is seeing, Bee is smell, Elephant is touch, Fish is taste and Deer is hearing.
We discussed how successful blocking of sense objects makes us a winner in life.
The lesson that sage Dattatreya wants us to learn is - Guard your senses and be safe! Excessive indulgences are unhealthy!
The children made a page for their 24 Teachers journal, drew and wrote down the lessons learned.
Gita Chanting
We learned verse 7 and 8 from Chapter 12 today (BV Handbook, pg 25). Remind your child to review the verses regularly.
The registration for Gita Chanting Yagna Regionals is now open. Details are in the Parents WA group.
We wrapped up class early to watch the Grade 8 program. The session ended with the Pledge recitation in the Temple Hall.
