Hari Om Parents,

Week 19 Update
Likhita Japa - Class began with the children writing - "Different Names of Krishna", in their little blue notebooks. These are found in Krishnashtakam and Govinda Damodara stotram.
They also tried the peacock feather pattern likhita japa!

Shlokas
Om chanting, Sahana vavatu, Vakratunda mahakaya, Saraswati namastubhyam, Guru Brahma, Maha Mrityunjaya shloka (My Prayers, pg 78), Krishnashtakam.(My Prayers pg 109).
The children reviewed verses 1-8 of the "Govinda Damodara Stotram".

Krishna Lila
The story of the salvation of the celestial magician, Sudarsana. He was cursed to be a python for disrespecting rishi Angira. Lord Krishna touches him with his foot and breaks the curse.
Lesson we learned here is that arrogance is not a good thing.
The story of the asura, Shankachuda. Lord Krishna defeats the asura and rescues the Gopis. He gives the precious gem from Shankachuda's head to Balarama as a gift.

Introspection Activity:
Control of senses - We spoke about how uncontrolled elements like fire and water can wreak havoc, but when controlled can be beneficial. Applying the same to uncontrolled behavior.
Your child can observe their behavior this week and make a list of  when they consciously practice controlling their senses.

My 24 Teachers
The next 2 teachers that Sage Dattatreya talks about are the Lady with a Bangle and the Arrowmaker. The children played the "Bangle Game".
We learned that silence is beneficial and that we must practice concentration.
We listened to the story of Arjuna winning the archery tournament by shooting an arrow into a bird's eye! The class also gave examples of using this virtue in their daily lives.
The children drew and wrote down the lessons learned on their papers for the 24 Teachers journal.

Gita Chanting
We learned verse 11 and 12 from Chapter 12 (BV Handbook, pg 25). Remind your child to review the verses regularly using the Playlist that is posted in the Parents WA group.

The session ended with chanting of Geeta Chapter 15, along with Aarti and the Pledge recitation in the Temple Hall.
