Hari Om Parents,

IT IS N FOR NOBILITY. Keeping up the promise made is a great noble deed. This quality is a great one which the Lord loves more than any other. This quality was demonstrated by a cow which gave a promise to a lion and fulfilled it. But this quality saved the cow. Let us see how.

A cow used to graze in the fields and return home without entering the forest which was very adjacent to the fields. But one day without realizing the cow wandered deep into the forest. Suddenly she realized that a lion was about to kill her and the paws of the lion were already on her to tear her apart. But she remembered her just born calf and started pleading with the lion to spare her for a few hours so that she will go feed her calf and come back. The lion laughed and did not allow her to go and started attacking the cow. But even then the cow pleaded with the lion and promised in the name of the Lord that she will certainly return to become the lion's meal. What a confidence in the Lord! On hearing the name of the Lord, the lion allowed her to go and feed her child. The cow thanked the lion and came running back to her calf. The calf ran towards his mother very lovingly and drank the milk. The cow patted the calf on its back and after the calf drank the milk, the cow told him what had happened in the forest. The calf started crying and pleaded with its mother not to go. It asked her, "How will I survive after you are gone?" To which the cow said, "The Lord is the protector of the entire universe. He will certainly take care of you." Thus saying the cow started walking towards the forest to become the prey to the lion.

Meanwhile, the lion was waiting there for the cow to come. It lost all hopes that the cow will be coming. He thought himself to be a fool to have let the cow go. Just as he was pondering like this, the cow came there and stood before him ready to be eaten. The lion was astounded. He just could not believe his eyes. My God! Am I dreaming? Have you really come? The lion shook in despair. He lost the courage to attack this divine and noble being. Instead of attacking the cow, he fell at the feet of the noble animal and said, "Mother! You are such a noble being. If I attack you, I cannot wash off my sins even in the holy waters of Ganga. I am not going to kill you. Please return to your son and live happily." Thus saying the lion goes away without harming the cow. The cow was shocked. Her devotion and faith in the Lord had saved her. Thanking Him, the cow returned back to its calf.

The nobility in the cow saved her. Any noble deed will safeguard our lineage. Let us cultivate at least one noble deed in our lives which will protect our entire generation.

With Gurudev's blessings,
