Week 13 Update
Likhita Japa - Class began with the children writing - "Om Namah Shivaya", in their little blue notebooks. They listened to the story of Shivaratri while writing.

Shlokas
Om chanting, Sahana vavatu, Vakratunda mahakaya, Saraswati namastubhyam, Guru Brahma, Maha Mrityunjaya shloka (My Prayers, pg 78), Krishnashtakam.(My Prayers pg 109).
The children started to learn the "Govinda Damodara Stotram", and did verses 1-3 today. A copy was given to the children and the script was shared in the Parents WA group for your reference.

Krishna Lila
After a quick recap, we continued with Lord Krishna's story.
Vrindavan is busy preparing for the annual puja to Indra Deva. Upon Lord Krishna's counsel, they decide to do puja to Govardhan mountain instead.
This angers Indra who sends a deluge that scares all the Gopas. Lord Krishna lifts the Govardhan mountain and everyone seeks refuge under it.
At the end of 7 days, Indra realises his mistake and stops the deluge. He seeks Lord Krishna's forgiveness, which Krishna grants.
Lord Krishna reminds Indra to do his duty and not to be prideful of his powers. We discussed - "Do your action and do not focus on the rewards."
Yashoda Ma and all the Gopis prepare a feast to thank Lord Krishna. A grand Annakut is organised and everyone thanks Lord Krishna for keeping them safe!

Introspection Activity: Karma and Karmaphala
We discussed the meaning of "karma". Examples of good vs bad karma. The children spoke about the consequences of their actions i.e. "karmaphalas".
- If I perform good karmas, I get good karmaphala.
- If I perform bad karmas, I get bad karmaphala.
- I am the only one who gets related to my karmaphala.
- Since all our karmas affect others, we must perform "nishkama karma".

Gita Chanting
We learned verse 1 and 2 from Chapter 12 today (BV Handbook, pg 25). Remind your child to review the verses regularly.

We wrapped up class early to watch Gr 9 play in the Temple Hall. The session ended with the Pledge recitation.
- Rashmi Kuroodi and Aparna Prasad
