Hari om,
We continued Dhruva's story. Dhruva's Grandson Prithu was crowned as king. He was a fair king and his people loved him.
However, due to his predecessor, Vena, there was lot of famine and hunger in the kingdom.
King Prithu saw that although mother earth had all the seeds and riches, she was not providing those riches to his people. So, he got angry and took a bow and arrow and pointed at the earth.
Mother Earth in the form of cow started running and King Prithu was chasing her. Mother Earth realized that this was Lord Narayana himself and bowed down to Him. She told the king that people stopped working and became lazy. The King helped the people to change. They worked hard and slowly because of their hard-work, vegetables and food grains started coming out of the earth and mother earth looked green.
King Prithu was so pleased with mother earth that he embraced her and adopted her as his daughter. So, she is also known as 'Prithuvi', or the daughter of Prithu.
From this story, we learned following values:
-Importance of bowing down to respect and acknowledge divine in each one.
-Working hard to fulfill our needs
-Sowing the right kind of seeds to reap good things.
King Prithu wanted to perform "Ashvamedha Yagna" for Loka kalyanam.
-Before this pooja Sanat kumaras visited the king and taught him about 6 sharks in life that we need to overcome (Greed, Anger, Lust, Pride, Delusion and Jealousy).
We can overcome this by:
-Faith
-Following Spiritual Practices
-Kindness
-Truthfulness
-Respect
-Chanting, listening and singing praises of Lord.
Kids vowed to practice overcoming anger for the week.
Also we saw the story about Indra wanting to prevent King Prithu's Pooja. And how Brahma and Narada Muni, helped both of them overcome their shark and see divinity in each other.
We started discussing about our stage play. Kids were supposed to research on "Nine modes of Devotion".
With Gurus Blessings
