Jan 11, 2026 - JCHYK Gr. 10-12 (Sunday AM)

Hari om everyone,

We began our morning with a 3-minute focused pebble drop to settle our minds before jumping
into our class activities. We then chanted Chapter 15 of the BG. In offering our gratitude to
Pujya Gurudev, we will continue to practice this chapter at the beginning of each class, so we
can be prepared to participate in the Guinness Book of World Records, chanting on May 9, 2026
where 108,000 people worldwide will be chanting together via WebEx.

We then went over our agenda for next week's class on Jan. 18. Our students will be assisting
all the other Balavihar Teachers in their classrooms. They have all received the link to a class
assignment document and should have already written to their assigned teacher, introducing
themselves and confirming that they will be ready to help out. Every year, this seva project is a
great success — the younger kids love having the older kids assist for the day.

After discussing our assignments, we moved on to how to make a simple, solid little book from
one piece of tabloid paper (11" x 17") with book covers consisting of folded and interlocked
pieces of paper. This is a perfect lesson in demonstrating how something that looks very
complicated is actually not difficult to make when we focus, take our time, and break each step
down into simple tasks. (This particular Zine style is commonly used with young artists in
writing journals, showcasing their drawings/cartoons, and in trading/sharing information.) And
the perk for us is that nobody can make excuses anymore for not bringing in their journals to
take notes or do likhita japa :-)

We hope that everyone had a wonderful winter break … and that your New Year is one filled
With much love, laughter, and spiritual prosperity!

Until next week, here's something to mull over, especially with the upcoming Teaching assignment.  Let's inspire our younger buddies to learn more!
