Oct 5, 2025 - Grade 5 (Sunday PM)

Hari Om! Parents,

We began our classes with chanting and likitha japa, where kids write their favorite deity's name 18 times.

Highlights

Mahabharata – Chapters 2 & 3

We continued our journey through the Mahabharata, exploring Chapters 2 and 3. The class included a retelling of key stories, helping reinforce the characters, values, and lessons learned so far. Through this, students deepened their understanding of Dharma, choices, and the moral complexities presented in the epic.

Gurus – Inspirations from Spiritual Masters

Adi Shankaracharya

A child prodigy and spiritual genius, Adi Shankaracharya revived Advaita Vedanta, the philosophy of non-dualism.
He traveled across India debating scholars, uniting various traditions, and establishing four monastic centers (mathas).
His great works include commentaries on the Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, and the Brahma Sutras, as well as devotional texts like the Nirvana Shatakam, which beautifully expresses the identity of the Self with pure consciousness

Swami Tapovan Maharaj
The guru of Swami Chinmayananda, Swami Tapovan Maharaj was a great Vedantic scholar and Himalayan sage. He is known for teaching by example rather than formal discourse, living a life of renunciation, simplicity, and deep devotion. His life inspired many seekers to walk the path of self-realization.

Swami Sivananda Saraswati
A medical doctor turned monk, Swami Sivananda was the founder of the Divine Life Society in Rishikesh. He promoted a balanced path of service, devotion, meditation, and knowledge, known as the Yoga of Synthesis His simple yet powerful teachings made spirituality accessible to all.

Chanting: Bhagavad Gita Verses We chanted and reflected on Bhagavad Gita Chapter 15, Verses 5 and 6, which speak about:

Game We concluded with a fun story-retelling game, helping everyone recall the key points from the Mahabharata chapters covered so far
