Oct 5, 2025 - Grade 2 (Sunday PM)

Dear Parents,

Hari Om!

We are excited to update you on what the children have been learning in the Grade 2 Sunday PM class this week. It's been a joyful and enriching experience so far, and we look forward to continuing this journey with your children.

Class Highlights:

  1. Hanuman Chalisa:
We've started learning the Hanuman Chalisa! The children have already learned the opening doha and the first two verses. We encourage you to play the Hanuman Chalisa at home to help them practice and familiarize themselves with the chanting. Here's a link to a video that they can listen to:

  2. Dhyëna Öloka Chant:
We introduced the Dhyëna Öloka chant, which helps the children focus and connect with Hanumanji in a prayerful frame of mind.
    The chant is as follows:

    Buddhir-balañ yaõodhairyañ nirbhayatvañ arogatë,
ajëÝyañ vëkpaéutvañ ca hanumat smaraãëd bhavet.

    Translation:
Through the worship of Shri Hanuman, one will be blessed with wisdom (buddhi), strength (bala), courage (dhairya), fearlessness (nirbhayatva), good health (arogate), alertness (ajeyam), and eloquence (vekpaetutvam).

  3. Mental and Physical Strength:
We discussed the difference between physical and mental strength. While physical strength comes from eating well, exercising, and resting, mental strength arises from cultivating beautiful qualities such as sharing, helping, and praying. We shared the story of Ravana and how his physical strength was no match for the mental strength of Lord Rama and Hanumanji. We'll continue this discussion in the coming weeks, exploring how each of Hanumanji's strengths played a role in his divine mission.

  4. Bhagavad Gita Slokas:
We have also begun our journey into the Bhagavad Gita, and the children have been assigned verses 1-11 from Chapter 13. Here's a link to a playlist that will help them learn the slokas:

The text is available in the handbook as well, so they can refer to it during practice.

  5. Navaratri & Lord Hanuman's Strengths:
We spoke about the significance of Navaratri and the many qualities of Lord Hanuman. The children created a construction paper project listing Hanumanji's strengths. Please encourage your child to bring their completed project to the next class, where we'll continue to explore these qualities through stories and activities.

If you have any questions or need further information, feel free to reach out.

Thank you for your continued support!
