Hari Om! Parents,
We began our classes with chanting and likitha japa, where kids write their favorite deity's name 18 times.
Weeks 1 & 2 Highlights
Welcome: We are excited to have 5 kids join the Sunday PM class! The first sessions focused on getting to know the students, their backgrounds, and talents.
Mahabharata: Introduced the epic—its author, verses, chapters, and characters. Covered Chapter 1: King Shantanu and the birth of Devavrata.
Physical Break: Kids practiced tadasana (standing on one leg) and discussed the benefits of yoga asanas
Tadasana builds focus and balance, while =grounds the body and mind with calmness.
Gurus: Discussed the meaning of yogis, India as a sacred land, and lessons from the experience of Alexander the Great:
Importance of conquering anger
Difference between need vs. want
Body vs. soul
Game - Today we played hangman to quickly review characters introduced as part of Mahabharata
Chanting: Learned the first śloka of Gita Panchamrit (Chapter 6.5) and chanted Bhagavad Gita 15.1 and 15.2.
Reminders
Please send a notebook and pen for likitha japa in class. Encourage 5 minutes of writing practice at bedtime.
Review the 3 ślokas practiced in class.
We've created a parent WhatsApp group for easy updates—let us know if you're not yet added.
We look forward to a rewarding and enriching year ahead with your children.
Warm regards,
- Sunil Nadig and Sangeetha Srikanth
