Hari OM Dear Families,
Here is this week's update.
Continuing with the next line in the pledge
We serve as an army courageous and disciplined
What Is service?
Doing something good for someone without expecting anything in return.
Doctors, teachers, police- all serving. Volunteer work like cleaning up, carrying things, Desk services are also serving.
Being good students, serving parents and elders is a kind act.
Pundarik story. The boy who served his parents first before attending to the Lord who stood patiently at his doorstep.
What is the army?
The Army is a group of people, serving and helping the country. This group works for common good. The Salvation Army collects clothes, shoes and packed food for the needy.
We are the Chinmaya army, working and helping each other and the community.
What is courage?
Courage is showing bravery even in danger. Courage means being brave and doing something that is dangerous and taking the risk of getting hurt.
When can we have courage?
When our hearts are pure and righteous then there is no fear- Prahalad story. Although his father tried to scare him so many times, there was no fear in his heart because his heart was pure and full of love for Lord Vishnu.
Knowing that you are not alone and need not be afraid because you have support. You are not alone because God is always with you. You are not alone because when you do the right thing other people will support you.
What is discipline?
Discipline is doing something good for you, even when you do not want to do it. This is doing the right thing, even if we don't want to do it as it feels boring!
Rigorous training by the sportsmen to stay fit, Waking up correctly, folding the comforters and blankets (if heavy, getting parents help), Getting ready to school without any reminders from the parents and to balavihar are all physical disciplines.
Telling the truth, showing kindness and respecting elders are all mental disciplines.
Ever ready to fight against all low tendencies and false values within and without us.
Our goal is to fight against all our bad habits (tendencies) . The nature of the bad habits makes us feel happy like in the beginning but it will make you sad. Chinmaya's goal is to make us happy and pick good habits: and shoo away all the bad habits.
