V for Victory:-

At the end of Aarti, we all say Siyavar Ramachandr ki Jai, Pavana suta Hanuman ki Jai or Krishna Kanhaya ki Jai. Jai means Victory! Why are we saying may the lord be victorious?

When we pray, we are praying to the lord to be victorious against all our bad thoughts and keep just the good thoughts within us! Victory comes with Hard work and when Truth always Wins. Whatever way we do in the right way and achieve our goal it is a victory. What is needed to win or be victorious? Aspiration, hard work, don't give up attitude and speaking the truth. Satyameva jayate. The truth wins.

V for Vishnu

We met Lord Vishnu earlier when we did N for Narayana. Let's get to know more of our lovely lord. He cares for every single creature in the whole universe.

Story: The Lord Who Gives Food
Lord Vishnu is the sustainer of the whole world and He feeds all living beings. Lakshmi Devi is his consort. She waits for Him to come every day, after His work is finished. Every day the Lord comes very late. One day the Lord was delayed considerably. Lakshmi Devi had to wait for a long time and she even got tired, while waiting for Him. While the Lord was having his food, she asked, "Oh, Lord, why do you come so late? Why don't you come a little early hereafter?" Sri Mahavishnu looked at her and smiled, "Devi, don't you know how busy I am? There are millions and millions of living beings on earth and day by day the number is going up. I have to feed all of them before I can think of eating." Lakshmi Devi opened her eyes in astonishment. "Do you feed all of them personally every day? Don't you ever forget anyone?" The lord shook His head and said, "No, how can I forget anyone?  a portion is due to each one everyday. I have to supply food and it is a must! "Really!" thought Lakshmi Devi within herself, "I must test my husband one day and see whether He is as diligent as He claims to be."
The next day she caught hold of a tiny ant and kept it in a box. She put the box inside the cabinet and waited to see when the Lord would feed the ant. As usual the Lord came late in the evening looking very tired and hungry. Lakshmi Devi served the food and while the Lord was eating, she asked, "My Lord, have you fed all the beings today?" The Lord nodded His head indicating that He had. Lakshmi Devi smiled and brought out the box from inside the cabinet. "See, I kept an ant here in the morning." Lord Vishnu laughed and replied, "My dear, open up the box and see whether the ant has its food or not." In surprise Lakshmi Devi opened the box. There, the ant had a bit of rice in its mouth. She wondered where it got its food from. When she was closing the ant in the box, a grain of rice from her hand fell into the box. Lakshmi Devi understood that the Lord really does take care of all and forgets none.

W for work.
Work is the effort you must do to get some result. Move your body to be somebody.
To get super good in any field, you have to put in the hard work. Even with studies, you have to put in the effort to get better.
If we look around, everything in life requires a lot of work! The food we eat, clothes we wear, the toys we have or the computer games we play - everything is the outcome of effort! Even in nature - be it a bird building nest to King of the Jungle hunting for food , Everything has to work!
What do children think is their main work? Studying hard and helping at home whenever they can ! The most important aspect to remember all through is "What I do - I do Well! "

STORY- the ant and the grasshopper.  The ant started preparing for the winter by collecting grains of rice slowly but steadily and getting his house ready for the winter. The grasshopper did not feel like getting ready for the winter. Winter came. The grasshopper realized that he had no food, no warm place to stay. The ant kindly shared his food and house with the rabbit.

MORAL- You must work hard in order to play and enjoy.

STORY- The villager and the milk pail.
Kids heard a story about a poor villager who finds a pail of milk. He gets excited, rests the pail on the hanging vessel above his couch, and starts daydreaming. He started to dream about selling the milk and buying 2 goats. He would raise goats, and then sell them for 2 cows. He would raise them to have more cows. Then he would sell the milk and yogurt and buy jewels. He would sell the jewels to the King and marry his daughter. He would be married, with kids. But what if the kids do not listen and make too much noise. He quickly got up and threw the stick from nearby and tried to hit it by raising it and spilled all of the milk that was hanging!.

MORAL- We cannot daydream our plans. We have to work hard to get what we want.

W is for Worship
What is worship? Worship is devotion to God, love of God. Worship is praying, showing respect and love, showing how much we love God. One way in which we can show someone how much we love them is by how much we do for them, and how well we do it.

Worship is offering everything we do or have to God with love.  Dhruv, Prahalad, Pundarik showed bhakti and worshipped the Lord. Even an animal elephant Gajendra worshipped the lord and the lord came to help him.

Story - Gajendra the elephant was thirsty and got into a river to drink some water. A crocodile slowly came behind him and caught hold of one of his legs. The elephant screamed for help and called Lord Vishnu. The lord immediately came flying in his Garuda and threw his chakra which cut the crocodile's mouth freeing the elephant.
