Week 9 UpdateLikhita Japa - Class began with the children writing 18 times - "Sri Krishna Sharanam Mama" / "Jai Sri Krishna", in their little blue notebooks.ShlokasOm chanting, Sahana vavatu, Vakratunda mahakaya, Saraswati namastubhyam, Guru Brahma, Mahamrutyunjaya shloka (My Prayers, pg 78).We revised verse 1-7 of Krishnashtakam; we learned verse 8 and the closing verse (My Prayers book pg 109). An audio for this shloka was shared on WA group for your reference.Krishna LilaMore heroic exploits of Krishna were discussed as he battled Asuras Bakasura and Aghasura. Not just Asuras but Lord Brahma himself set an ultimate test for Krishna by creating an illusion that he was sure Krishna wouldn't be able to dispel; but Krishna passed that test with flying colors and humbled the creator himself.
Here is a link to short videos about Krishna Lila, for you to play at home if your child misses class.
My 24 TeachersToday's riddle: People say I am very beautiful. My looks have inspired poets to write poetry. I'm not tall and slim; I am on the rounded side. Who am I? Answer - MoonThe lesson can be summarized in Sage Dattatreya's line " I have learned from the moon that everything in the world, including my body keeps changing with time; what does not change is only Bhagvan" We also learned some other qualities of moon that can help us in everyday life ; for example despite having craters, moon is considered beautiful; so can we turn our flaws into strengths and shine. Moon reflects the light it receives from the sun; We often shine brightest when we work with others. Helping classmates or learning from teachers is like reflecting light — we grow together. We also learned the importance of acting in the present and now and shared Gurudev's quote which says " Everyday is bursting with opportunities for us to do and serve, to express, to love and live. We must make use of these lush chances and diligently make our life rich, fruitful and useful for others at all times.
Yesterday was, Tomorrow will be; only today belongs to us. So let us do our best today."
Children drew their learnings of the moon- phases to craters.Gita ChantingWe learned verse 15 and 16 from Chapter 15 today (BV Handbook, pg 25).
