Here is this week's update.
In the Chinmaya Mission pledge there is a line which says, "May your Grace and Blessing flow through us to the world around us." So what is a blessing?
God's Love
God's Power
God's knowledge
God's love (touch the heart), God's Power (flex your arm muscles), God's knowledge (tap the side of your head with pointer finger)
The Lord always gives us grace just like the sun always gives us light even when we cannot see the sun. For example, when it rains during the day we can still see sunlight. At night we cannot see the sun, but the sun is still shining in another part of the world. In the same way, God's grace is always there even when we turn away from it like the earth turns away from the sun.
We have to open ourselves up to God's grace. Just like if you close the curtains then the light does not shine through, in the same way, if you close our hearts God cannot come inside. How do we get God's grace? By remembering Him with Love and letting him live in our hearts.
Story of Prahalad's Devotion:
Prahalad had grace, virtue, courage and wisdom.
Prahalad was a five year old boy. He was the son of an asura called Hiranyakashipu. Prahalad's heart was filled with immense love for the Lord. He learnt a lot about Lord Vishnu when he was in his mother's belly.
Hiranyakashipu wanted Prahalad to say- that Prahalad's father Hiranyakashipu is the greatest in the world, the most powerful, the smartest, the best. But Prahalad refused, because he knew that Lord Vishnu was the greatest in the world, the most powerful, the smartest, and the best. So Hiranyakashipu was angry and wanted to scare him.
Each time, he tried to scare the young boy Prahalad, he was not afraid at all. He closed his eyes and chanted 'Om Namo Narayanaya'.
Prahalad was fearless. With the thought of Lord Vishnu in his heart and chanting 'Om Namo Narayanaya'.
Prahalad had God's grace and blessing as he always chanted God's name and kept opening his heart for the god to enter.
Prahalad is a blessed child.
