Week 11 Update
Likhita Japa - Class began with the children writing 18 times - "Sri Krishna Sharanam Mama" / "Jai Sri Krishna", in their little blue notebooks.
Shlokas
Om chanting, Sahana vavatu, Vakratunda mahakaya, Saraswati namastubhyam, Guru Brahma, Maha Mrityunjaya shloka (My Prayers, pg 78) Krishnashtakam.(My Prayers pg 109).
We started to learn the Gita Panchamrit. We discussed Verse 2 meaning: Thy right is to work only, but never to its fruits; let the fruit of action not be thy motive, nor let thy attachment be to inaction.- Gita Panchamrit
Krishna Lila
The story of Kaliya Mardanam
Deeper meaning - We spoke about how Kaliya's pollution of the Yamuna river is similar to consciousness when polluted by the ego or poisonous I and "My-ness" hoods. When the Lord enters the consciousness and dances on the ever-spreading hoods of I and MINE to rid them of the poisons of selfishness ; only then do we come to know God, Krishna.
My 24 Teachers
We spoke about the oldest mailman in the world- Pigeon. And qualities of Pigeon that we should not adopt , making him our Teacher of the week. The lesson from Pigeon is that when you are over attached to things and faced with troubles in life, you may lose control of life. Instead we need to face the troubles with courage and try to find a proper solution. All kids drew their version of Pigeon for their activity books.
We did a fun activity by having a blue dot on a paper and keeping the paper in front of the noses of children and asking what they see. Some saw half dots, two dots, blueberries; signifying if we are too close to a problem, we might not see a solution but sometimes we need to step back.
